What Is X Times X
What is $ten \times \sqrt x$
Solution one
In general, no. Since $\sqrt x$ is equal to $x^{one/ii}$, your equation is the same as $x^{3/2} = x$, merely $10 = 0, i$ work as solutions
Solution ii
If y'all want to solve for the equation $$ x\sqrt{10} = x $$ so you have $$ 10 (\sqrt{ten}-1) =0 \Rightarrow 10 = 0, \text{ or } \sqrt{ten}=i, \text{ i.e. } x = i $$
Solution 3
The multiplicative inverse (the "opposite" in your question) of a non-zero number $ten$ is its reciprocal, $\frac{1}{x}$. Multiplying these two together gives instead $x \times \frac{1}{x} = 1$.

Does $ten \times \sqrt x = x$?
I thought it was right because sqrt is the opposite of multiplying by a number, so I figured by multiplying past a number it would residue out and be that number normally, but when I tried it with my Python calculator using three I got:
math.sqrt(iii) * 3

You seem very dislocated... If it were truthful that $x\sqrt{ten} = x$ for all $10$, that would imply $\sqrt{x} = ane$ for all $10$. The "opposite of multplying", if anything, is dividing, not taking foursquare roots.

$\sqrt x$ is the number satisfying $\sqrt x \sqrt x = ten$; it'southward non the opposite of multiplying past $x$.
-
Squareroot is the opposite of squaring. 1 tin say for $x>0$ that $\sqrt{ten}^2=x$ and that $\sqrt{x^2}=x.$
-
The inverse role of multiplication is sectionalization, while the inverse function of squaring a number is taking the square root of the upshot.
-
Also, why bother with Python? $\sqrt four = 2$, simply $4 \cdot two \ne four$.
-
@fkraiem Certainly, it would imply $\sqrt{10}=i$ or $x=0$.
-
@T.Bongers Python is fun? I dunno

Thanks for clarifying. I understand at present

Actually, $x=0$ is also a solution.

I disregarded that, thank y'all
